Hi, I’m Nico Brand,
a Designer, Researcher and Artist based in Vancouver, BC.

I am fascinated by making digital experiences more emotive, love to visually converse with machines and believe in the power of speculating on technological futures together.

Design & Research Approach

I embarked on my interaction design journey eight years ago, embodying a deeply human-centric design approach, laser-sharp design skills, and a robust package of Research and Design Methods.

I worked for major European customers like ZDF and NZZ, published several design research papers in prestigious journals, and presented my work at international conferences.

Me In A Nutshell

To cope with this fast-paced world, you will most likely find me:

  • Orbiting around mundane objects for 12+ minutes to get an "interesting" photo.
  • Building or carving things out of wood.
  • Roaming through the marvelous nature here in the Pacific Northwest.

I also ♥ to creatively engage with Machine Learning algorithms and see how my art and data change and transform through this ongoing conversation.
